How do you feel about this?
In an attempt to monitor the safety and well-being of your kids, a San Antonio, TX school district is deciding to distribute ID cards with RFID chips implanted in them to their students this coming school year.
The purpose is to make sure that your child is safe. If your student says they’re going to the nurse’s office, but are actually meeting up with Sweet Sugar Susie or Big Joe Johnson under the bleachers, this ID card will let the appropriate personnel know. Likewise, if a child is hurt or missing, this ID card will act like a GPS of sorts and let authorities know exactly where the child is located.
It sounds like a perfect idea. However, how overreaching is this into our right-to-privacy? What are you willing to give up in return for so-called security and peace of mind?
